i got tickets for my birthday. (thanks, jus!) and i was so excited to go. we went the night we got home from arizona so that helped ease the pain of leaving. we ate at the cafe rio in sandy on our way up and parked in the wrong parking lot and froze while walking the extra five minutes to the venue (the depot).
the depot is a 21+ place. i showed my new drivers license that had just came in the mail that day with an updated picture and lovely, shiny proof that i am indeed, 21. i was giddy.

the place had beautiful artwork and i loved the whole vibe. there was a bar. AHHH. lmao i had to order a red bull. i felt so cool ordering a drink at a bar! it was so funny.

the opening band was a guy named fran healy. he was so cool and i liked his music. i purchased his album and got his autograph. he said i was "lovely". he he.

we found a place to stand near the side of the stage. this is the part where there is a small bit of conflict. you see, my husband is nearing 6 foot 6 in height and likes to stand near the back or against a wall at concerts so he isn't in anyone's way. considerate, right? i, on the other hand, am pushing 5 foot six and couldn't see over the guys standing in front of me! but i wanted to be as close as i could to the stage so we were kind of separated for a lot of the concert. i still danced by myself and rocked out to brandon's lovely, lively music.

as far as the actual performance goes, it could not have been much better. he played every song i wanted him to play. in fact, he seemed to have played almost every song in his album but i felt ripped off when he left the stage because it seemed like there was so much left unplayed. that was all in my head though because i realized that he really did play almost every song. and each and every song was so good.

i have a new-found appreciation for the song welcome to fabulous las vegas. i love when arists explain songs a little during their concerts and brandon does this well. this song, he explained, is about the times when las vegas really isn't so fabulous. and i fell in love again...

a song that is definitely a favorite of both justin & i is the clock was tickin'. if you haven't listened to it, you really should. it is so good and also very different from how his music usually sounds.

mmm I love live music. I"m glad you had fun! man, I still need to get my 21 and older license. I feel dumb having the vertical one!
I used to wonder what all the hype was about when it came to attending concerts. I'd heard some artists live and they sounded terrible, so I figured listening to their professionally recorded music was so much better. That all changed when Brad took me to see Incubus and I realized that talented artists sound amazing live! That's so cool that you got to see him live and it's awesome to hear the songs you love. I'm glad you're back, too, we missed you guys.
