new beginnings.

well, my blogging has gone down substantially lately. not really sure why. perhaps it was finals that kept me busy... or perhaps it was because we are in the process of buying our first house and it has been CRAZY busy. so we have a contract and all, we are just waiting for the financing to go through and we should close within the next three weeks! i haven't really wanted to blog about it because i didn't want to get all excited and then have it not happen. but it looks like its going to. it still just seems surreal though. anywho, i finally felt like i could tell you all about it!

we are buying a townhome in the cove at jordan river which is located in saratoga springs. now, i know what you're thinking: its SO far away!! i know you're thinking that, because that is what i thought, too. but it is actually only 6 minutes from the lehi main street exit and is right off main street. so it takes like less than 20 minutes to get there from my parent's house which is just enough distance that i feel like we are on our own but is close enough to visit a lot. so it is basically perfect. 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, 1 car garage, lots of upgrades, a private small backyard, and an unfinished basement for room to grow! i am especially looking forward to being a part of a little community with other young families and being able to take ezra to the pool and for walks and such.

so i am finally letting myself get excited about it. we have been planning where we are going to put all of our furniture and all of our stuff. so, lots of the stress is melting away. we have never owned a home before and i am excited for all that we will experience. it will be nice to have all of the space we need (especially storage space) and to be able to do our own thing. i am going to start cooking (that's the plan, at least. wish me luck!) in my new kitchen that is my favorite part of the house.

we will definitely be living on a budget because for the past 2 1/2 years we have been living with little to no cost of rent and have not been careful with our money because we didn't have to be. now that we will actually have serious financial obligations we have made a budget and will need to stick to it. i am figuring it won't be easy at first but as time goes on and justin makes more money it will get much more comfortable.

as for some fun things i have my eyes on, here are some barstools from crate & barrel. they are absolutely fabulous. we already bought a sofa, a loveseat, and a dining set. so i won't really be buying anything else. (besides window coverings, a washer and dryer, and boring stuff like that). the main downside to buying a new place is that you usually have to put in all the shutters and stuff like that. oh well.

hey! that is awesome! I am quite jealous. Don't worry, it's pretty easy being poor starving students. I can't wait to see your place! good luck.

I'm so excited for you guys!! I think that you guys will be fine, you are aware of the budget idea and that you are willing to cook; both ideas will help you handle everything. Just make sure you both understand the budget and are willing to stick to it. I'm sure you'll do great and you'll be cooking up great meals in no time!
